JAHANNA is sitting by herself in the cafeteria.
JAHANNA thinks - I need to make sure I finish that last assignment and then oh yeah, I can't forget to stop by the registrar's office so I can...
(She is surprised to see someone approach her table... on his knees.)
JAHANNA - Dex!
DEXTER - Hi.
JAHANNA - What are you doing?
DEXTER - Are you still not speaking to me?
JAHANNA - Dexter get up!
DEXTER - Not until you speak to me again.
JAHANNA - I'm speaking to you now!
(She looks around the room embarrassed as people are starting to notice DEXTER on his knees. He begins talking louder.)
DEXTER - Please! Please forgive me!
JAHANNA whispers - Dexter!
DEXTER - Oh God please forgive me!
JAHANNA - Okay! Okay! Get up you fool!
(DEXTER laughs as he gets up and sits across from his sister.)
JAHANNA - Dexter... is there no end to your foolishness?
DEXTER - Absolutely not. I pledged. There's is no humiliation worse than being on line. So now its just like whatever.
JAHANNA - So you act like an idiot... and it doesn't bother you. Right. Right.
(She sticks her fork into her salad.)
DEXTER - So wassup?
JAHANNA - Nothing.
DEXTER - Don't talk with your mouth full of food.
JAHANNA - You're explaining to me about proper manners?
DEXTER - Yeah, that's true. Forget I said that.
(JAHANNA sighs and looks out the large window that spans the cafeteria.)
JAHANNA - You're not getting something to eat? Why are you in here?
DEXTER - Meeting the bruhs. They on their way over.
JAHANNA - Oh Lord, then let me get out of here! You act real crazy when them fools around.
DEXTER - Anyway!
(He grabs her bread off of her plate and starts to eat it.)
DEXTER - So listen... I need to talk to you seriously.
JAHANNA - What's up?
DEXTER - Seriously; I want to apologize for what happened in your room.
JAHANNA - Okay.
DEXTER - Actually, I want to apologize for certain parts.
JAHANNA - Certain parts?
DEXTER - Yeah. I aint sorry for everything. Just certain things.
JAHANNA - You know what Dexter...
DEXTER - Let me explain.
JAHANNA - No because if that's the way you feel then you really aint sorry for nothing.
DEXTER - I can't apologize for lookin' out for my sister. You can't even argue with that.
JAHANNA - I can't argue with the concept. But I can argue with your method of doing it.
DEXTER - My method?
JAHANNA - You're overbearing, rude, pig headed, bold, boisterous...
DEXTER - Alright alright! Dag!
(She continues to eat without another word.)
DEXTER - Well I can admit this, it is your life and whatever you choose to do is your choice to make.
JAHANNA - Thank you.
DEXTER - No matter how wrong it might be.
JAHANNA - Do you have to always have the last word?
(DEXTER smiles.)
DEXTER - Anyway.... I got a proposal I want to pass by ya.
JAHANNA - Oh God!
DEXTER - No, this is a good thing. A real good thing.
(JAHANNA smiles.)
JAHANNA - Why don't I believe you?
DEXTER - Hey, trust me.
(JAHANNA sighs.)
JAHANNA - What Dexter?
DEXTER - Okay... one of my boys... a real good brother, asked me about you. I think he wants to take you out.
(JAHANNA starts laughing.)
JAHANNA - What!
DEXTER - Yeah. He's a real good dude. My baby bruh.
JAHANNA - Your ba... Ty?
DEXTER - Yeah! You know him? Why don't you go out with him and see what he's about? I'm sayin'.

MAX is in his room. He is waiting on a phone call and flipping channels with the remote control.
MAX thinks - Aint nothin' on tv!
(He looks at the phone which doesn't ring. He looks at his watch.)
MAX thinks - I hate when he does this!
(He looks back at the tv.)
MAX thinks - Oh, the Steve Harvey show.
(He puts the remote down into his lap.)
MAX thinks - This show is mad funny.
(MAX starts to watch.)
MAX thinks - Damn, its already late and we're gonna be late if he doesn't hurry up and call!
(MAX picks the phone up.)
(silence)
(He places it back down.)
MAX thinks - No... no, I'm not gonna call. I promised I wouldn't be a nag. So I'll wait. I'll sit here and wait for him to call and hopefully he'll call in enough time that we can still go.
(He places the phone back down just as it rings.)
MAX - Hello! Hello!
CALLER - Yeah, is Brian there?
MAX - Brian? Uh, you got the wrong number.
CALLER - I'm sorry.
(MAX hangs up.)
MAX thinks - Damn! What if Terrence tried to call just now and got a busy signal!
(He goes to pick up the phone again.)
MAX thinks - No, that's silly. Let me chill and just wait. I know he's gonna call.
(He starts to watch the Steve Harvey show again.)
MAX thinks - Damn he gets on my nerves sometimes!
(He looks at the phone but it doesn't ring.)
MAX thinks - Aw hell!
(He picks up the phone and dials TERRENCE's number.)
TERRENCE - Hello?
MAX - Where are you?
TERRENCE - Hello!
MAX - Hey! It's me! Can you hear me?
TERRENCE - Barely!
MAX - Where! Are! You!
TERRENCE - I'm! At! Amgis!
MAX - Amgis? For what!
TERRENCE - I'm on the yard! For the rally that's going on!
MAX - Amgis! You're supposed to be here with me! We're supposed to gou out!
TERRENCE - Today? Was that tod... oh wait, hold on!
(MAX can hear a lot of noise and commotion in the background.)
MAX thinks - Stay calm... stay calm! Don't kill him!
TERRENCE - Hello!
MAX - Terrence, what are you doing!
TERRENCE - Max, today is the rally at Amgis for the guy that got locked up for the rape!
MAX - Who?
TERRENCE - Remember I was telling you about a guy! He got accussed of rape and got locked up! But everyone is saying that he didn't do it!
MAX - No I don't remember! We had plans for today!
TERRENCE - I'm sorry!
MAX - Why in the world did you have to go to this thing today! What interest do you have in this!
TERRENCE - Huh!
MAX - Why did you have to go!
TERRENCE - Listen, I can barely hear you because everyone over here is screaming! Let me call you back!
MAX - No! Wait!
(CLICK)
MAX - Hello! Terrence!
(MAX dials back immediately.)
VOICE MAIL - You've reached Terrence, leave me a message and I will call you back.
(BEEP)
MAX - This is Max! Call me back right now! We had plans for today and I am pissed! Why did you have to go to some rally? Call me back!
(MAX hangs up.)
MAX - Damn! What the hell?

(MAX picks the phone back up and dials.)
LARRY - Hello.
MAX - Hey its me.
LARRY- Hi!

(DEXTER quiets down.)
JAHANNA - Dexter, I love you okay? I do. And I appreciate what you're trying to do. Sort of. But you gotta let me live my own life. I don't get into who you date and all that. So why must you get into mine?
DEXTER - I'm just sayin', I don't want you to get hurt.
JAHANNA - And that's why I appreciate you. But I'm a big girl.
DEXTER - But look, I took your advice when you warned me about Katrice.
JAHANNA - But you didn't have to. I didn't force that decision on you. I just gave you the information. You did what you thought was best with it.
DEXTER - And you think its best to deal with Gregg after I already told you what kind of a dog he is?
JAHANNA - I'm not discussing this with you Dexter.
(She starts to eat again.)
JAHANNA - Besides...
(She finishes chewing.)
JAHANNA - ...your baby bruh... Ty... is talking to PJ.
DEXTER - He's what?
JAHANNA - I know more about the Que dogs than you do!
DEXTER - Shut up. He's not talking to PJ.
JAHANNA - Yes he is.
DEXTER - No he aint.

JAHANNA - Because she told me. I heard it from the horse's mouth.
DEXTER - Well then the horse is wrong.
JAHANNA - How can the horse be wrong? That's silly. It came right from PJ. I think she knows who she is in a relationship with.
DEXTER - Well then I think she is mistaking her bruhs... because PJ aint talking to Ty. PJ is talking to Ronnie!

BREANNA is in the library making photo copies when her cell phone rings.
BREANNA thinks - Oh gosh! I forgot to put it on vibrate!
(She quickly grabs it and opens it.)
BREANNA whispers - Hello?
BRANDON - Hey.
BREANNA whispers - Hold on one second.
BRANDON - Why are you whispering?
BREANNA whispers - I'm in the library. Hold on.
BRANDON - Oh okay.
(She quickly collects all her papers and makes sure she doesn't leave anything behind. She then steps outside the copy room and walks out the front door of the library. She places her things on a bench and sits down.)
BREANNA - Baby?
BRANDON - Hey. You still in the library?
BREANNA - I walked outside so I could talk.
BRANDON - Oh cool. What's goin' on?
BREANNA - I'm starting to help out with my soror's campaign for the presidency.
BRANDON - Oh yeah, you told me something about that. She is running for president after Brother Bryce right?
(BREANNA laughs.)
BRANDON - What?
BREANNA - Well its funny that you call Dr. Bryce... Brother Bryce.
BRANDON - He's my frat.
BREANNA - It's just weird that you say it like you're cool with him.
BRANDON - He came to a few grad meetings that I was at. He is real down to earth. But you're gonna feel the same way if your advisor wins. What's her name again?
BREANNA - Stacie Jefferson. She is the bomb! So nice and down to earth.
BRANDON - So imagine if she wins. That's gonna be tight huh?
BREANNA - She is gonna win!
(BRANDON laughs.)
BRANDON - I hear ya. That's cool. So what are you doing after you finish that stuff?
BREANNA - Um... I need to just stay here and study. Why? What's up?
BRANDON - Oh, nevermind then.
BREANNA - Why? What?
BRANDON - Well, I wanted to see if you wanted to get together to get something to eat. Or something.
BREANNA - Yes!
BRANDON - Dag!
(They both laugh.)
BRANDON - But not if you have to study.
BREANNA - I can manage.
BRANDON - Are you sure? I'm not trying to corrupt you and mess you up in your classes.
BREANNA - Naw, I'll be fine. Where you wanna go eat at?

(He turns around and starts to walk toward the back of the audience.)
GREGG thinks - Okay what is this all about?
(GREGG sees the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta walking toward the center of the yard alongside their four pledgees who are dressed alike and walking together.)
GREGG thinks - Oh shit! They got a line on! They bout to disrupt some shit?
(He walks up to SHARONDA, the Zeta who is closest to him.)
GREGG - What are yall doing?
SHARONDA - Wassup Gregg. We're here to show our support of your frat brother.
GREGG - Really? And these are your girls huh?
SHARONDA - Yeah, these are our misfits. That one right there is my little cousin.
(SHARONDA points at MIYA.)
SHARONDA- Normally you would get a greeting but they got in trouble and they aren't allowed to speak.
(GREGG laughs.)
GREGG - Oh really?
(GREGG looks at the girls again and then recognizes another Zeta that he knows from Ahpla.)

(He walks away from SHARONDA.)
GREGG - Hey.
DENISE - Hi Gregg. How you doin'?
GREGG - Not good actually.
DENISE - What's the matter?
GREGG - It's just that... um... let me holla at you for a minute... okay?
DENISE - Uh... yeah. Um... are you okay...
(GREGG just starts to walk away.)
DENISE - Gregg? Where are you going?
(He doesn't answer but walks away with his head lowered.)
DENISE - Hey Kim, I'll be right back. I'll meet yall over there.
KIM - That's cool.
(DENISE follows GREGG and skips to catch up with him.)
DENISE - Gregg! Gregg! Hold up!
(GREGG stops. He doesn't turn around but his head is still lowered.)
DENISE - What's going on?
(DENISE spins GREGG around. GREGG is crying.)
DENISE - Oh my God, what's wrong?
GREGG - It's just that... see, I didn't want to get like this.
DENISE - Like what?
GREGG - Eric is like my best friend! And its just damn wrong what happened to him! I just...
(He rubs his eyes.)
DENISE - Don't worry, I think everything is gonna be okay. I mean, look at all these people here to support you guys.
GREGG - They don't even know him. They don't know him the way I know him.
DENISE - Yeah, I know. But that's what we're all here for. To get to know him and to get him out.
GREGG - Yeah... I know.
(silence)

(He wipes his eyes.)

BREANNA - Theresa!
(THERESA smiles.)
THERESA - Hey Bree!
(They hug... for a long time.)
BREANNA - Hi girl!
THERESA - Hey! How you doin'?
(They let go of each other and step back.)
BREANNA - Busy as ever. Looks like I'm gonna be the next dean.
(THERESA gets a big smile.)
THERESA - Really! Well look at you! All grown up and about to be dean huh?
(BREANNA smiles.)
BREANNA - Looks like it.
THERESA - Well go head then with your bad self! I'm happy for you.
BREANNA - Thanks. How are you?
THERESA - Oh I can't complain girl. This one class is kickin' my ass which is why I'm here. I need to crack these books for real.
BREANNA - I know that's right.
(silence)
THERESA - Well... um... good seeing you Bree. Holla at me sometim...
BREANNA - Wait wait Theresa. Listen...
THERESA - Before you start Bree. You know I love you girl. I always will. But please don't try and talk me into coming back. I'm done.
(BREANNA frowns.)
BREANNA - I know. I know.
THERESA - I'm sorry. I'm just moving on.
BREANNA - Yeah. Well that's not what I wanted to talk to you about anyway.
THERESA - Oh. I shouldn've assumed. What's up?
BREANNA - I wanted to see if you wanted to work with me on a project. Non Delta related... in a since.
THERESA - In a sense?
BREANNA - Yeah. It's for a Delta but not under the name of Delta.
THERESA - What do you mean?
(BREANNA hands THERESA one of the sheets she was just photocopying.)
BREANNA - Stacie Jefferson is now running for president of Ahpla University. I am working on her campaign and I wanted to know if you wanted to help us.
THERESA - Stacie is running for president?
(THERESA looks in shock. BREANNA smiles.)
BREANNA - Yep!
THERESA - Oh my goodness! Are you serious?
BREANNA - Yeah. She made her formal announcement to us. So we're all pitching in and trying to help.
(THERESA reads the flier.)
THERESA - Oh my gosh!
(silence)
BREANNA - So what do ya say? Care to join us?
THERESA - Thanks Bree but I can't.
BREANNA - Why not?
THERESA - It's just something I can't get into. That's all.
BREANNA - But it isn't a Delta thing or anything. Its just that we're all helping out.
THERESA - I understand but I can't do it.
BREANNA - Well why not? Is it this silly stuff between you and Willie? Yall need to go ahead and put that mess to rest.
THERESA - Nothing to do with Willie. I just can't do it.
BREANNA - But why not? I mean, don't you like Stacie? Don't you think she'd be a good president? Why can't you just put your differences with DST aside and come help us on this campaign?
THERESA - Breanna, Stacie would probably be a fine president. No doubt about it. But I don't think she would be as good of a president as Dr. Colin Mwatsumi. I am working on his campaign already. Sorry but good luck and may the best candidate win!
